MJJV.07.097 Asian Countries in the World Economy  (6 ECTS)

The course covers the major megatrends in the world economy (population growth and population aging, scarcity of natural resources and their  price growth)  and provides more detailed understanding about developments in China, India and Singapore.

Takes place on Thursdays at 14:00- 16:00, room S-238 (The Silva Building at Narva mnt. 27/29).

The first lecture is on the 2nd of February and the last on the 10th of May 2012.


•   The Chinese Economic Environment (4 ECTS): Economy of China today and tomorrow / R. Allikivi and S.Sikkut

Takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 18:00-20:00, room S-412 (The Silva Building at Narva mnt. 27/29).

The first lecture is on the 26th of March and the last on the 10th of May 2012.


•   Special course in the features of economic or business environments (ECTS): Japanese Organisation / M.Nukke

Takes place on Mondays at14:00-16:00,room M-328 (The Mare Building at Uus-Sadama 5).

The first lecture is on the 31st of January and the last on the 8th of May 2012.


•    Southeast Asian Societies (4 ECTS): Southeast Asian Societies: problems and state-society relations K. Dean

Takes places on Tuesdays at 10:00-12:00 and Thursdays at 14:00-16:00

NB! The lecture on 29.03 is cancelled and will be replaced with a lecture on 12.04 at 16-18 room M-227.

•   Special course in Middle Eastern Societies (4 ECTS): The Society and Culture of the Middle-Eastern Region / P. Espak and V. Sazonov

Takes places on Wednesdays at 18:00-20:00 at the study building of the University of Tartu (Ülikooli 16), auditorium 102.

The first lecture is on the 8th of February and the last on the 9th of May 2012.


•   Chinese Politics (6 ECTS): Security Challenges in East Asia  / E. Berg

Takes place on Tuesdays at 14:15-18:00 at the study building of the University of Tartu (Lossi 36), auditorium 305.

The First lecture is on the 7th of February and the last lecture on the 27th of March 2012. 

The Exam is on the 3rd of April at 14:15 - 15:45        



•   Special Course in Public Relations (3 ECTS): Non-Western Public Administration (in English) / W. Drechsler

Takes place on: 02.05; 03.05; 04.05 and 07.05 at 10:00 – 13:00and continues at14:00 – 16:00, room VII-226 (Ehitajate tee 5).

First lecture on the 2nd of May, the last on the 7th of May 2012.


•   Special Course in Chinese Politics (3 ECTS): China’s Political and Economic Relations with the USA and Russia in the 20th and 21st centuries / M.Helme

Takes place on Tuesdays at 17:45 – 21:00, room X-311 (Akadeemia tee 3).
